Who did something funny for money? Paymentshield did!

It may have been another Friday the 13th, but it was all fun and games at Paymentshield, as long as you weren’t the one having their legs waxed of course. This year, four of the male team members in Customer Services gritted their teeth whilst they were torn off a strip by a number of wax-happy volunteers.

Across the area people dressed in their PJs, ran various competitions and tucked into a wide range of sticky cakes, raising pounds for charity and goodness knows how many extra ‘pounds’ in weight across the business.

Together with the leg waxing sponsorship, Customer Services raised more than £400 for Comic Relief, as well as a few smiles and grimaces from the leg-waxing onlookers!

Another event that no one will forget in a hurry was Steve Taylor’s Irish jig. He raised £56 for doing his Irish best – thankfully no River Dance experts were on-hand to witness and weep at the unique Gaelic extravaganza!

“All in all it was a great day and everyone enjoyed the in-house entertainment provided by our wacky colleagues. The whole day raised more than £1,100, including a Paymentshield company match.” said Christina Mooney, Culture Manager.

It all goes to show that Paymentshield is off to a great fundraising start. By the end of last year its staff had raised £12,000 from more than 25 events, placing Paymentshield in Towergate’s top 10 for staff fundraising.

“It’s been great fun and we’re hoping that 2009 will continue in the same spirit,” said Danielle Le Breton, Head of HR and CSR Programme Manager.  “We have an eager Corporate Social Responsibility Committee ready to deliver a calendar of events, which we hope everyone will welcome and enjoy.”
