An annual charity biker’s event in Northampton was recently
threatened when the organisers were informed that they needed
Public liability insurance to the indemnity limit of £5M. The event
is called the ‘Terry Wire April Fools
Harley Davison Run’. Harley Davison owners from all over
the country bring their much loved machines to Northampton where
they ride a specific course around part of the town and finish in
the town centre. They then park their bikes in the main shopping
street and collect money for our local ‘Cynthia Spencer Hospice’.
The event raises thousands of pounds as the people of Northampton
show their appreciation for the spectacular display of 80+
‘Harleys’ in the town, and give generously to the local
Hospice.
A member of staff at TRS Northampton - Gail Archer - saw
the appeal in the paper for help, spoke to Julie Walker (Managing
Director of TRS Northampton) and with the help of the Towergate
Underwriting Zones we shared the cost of the insurance cover and
thus saved the run for 2009. Towergate staff will be on hand on the
day of the run this year - April 4th - to help
‘rattle the buckets’ to raise money for the hospice.
If there are any Harley Davison owners in Towergateland who think
they would like to join the run then please contact Roy Davis at
TRS Northampton on 01604-887324 and he will put you in contact with
the organisers.
