Warm-hearted workers in Towergate Telford went the extra mile
when they gave a van full of toys - to help children who are not
expected to live to see adulthood.

The Towergate Telford team agreed to help
Acorns Children's Hospice, in Walsall, and arranged to buy them a
badly-needed new van so they could transport equipment between
their two locations.
The money was raised from a series of events
including a sponsored walk, cricket match, quizzes and dress down
days to buy the van plus £1,500 worth of toys to fill it.
Towergate Managing Director Larry Smith said
that the company matched every £1 raised, doubling the staff’s
efforts. He added: “Life is about putting something
back. We recognise that there are people much less fortunate
than ourselves.”
Towergate marketing manager Nicky Spencer
said: “Acorns is our local children’s hospice, and we heard
they needed a van. We are truck insurance specialists, and we
set about raising money to buy it, with the help of business
partner Keltruck, who sourced the vehicle and supplied it with the
VAT already paid, as well as with decals. Our insurance partner,
Norwich Union, took care of the first year’s insurance.”

marvellous. Their kindness made this one of the best
Christmas times for families who really appreciate such a great
helping hand.”
