Towergate Troopers raise £3k completing the Commando Challenge

Towergate Troopers I think we should have been called on Saturday October 13th 2007

Who in their right mind would want to do a walk through the woods, that included four to five very dark tunnels 15-20 meters' long that you could only crawl through, one long muddy pool up to your waist, wading through boggy marshland and finally a tunnel under water approx 5-6ft long.

Well approximately 50 very brave people did all this and survived.

Newton Abbot thought they would do their bit for the local charity, to take part in the Commando Challenge which was organized by the Local Radio station for various charities. but then spread the invite to all the other charity Champions in Towergate in general to see if they would like to take up the challenge and the opportunity to be as good as the Royal Marine Commando's (in my opinion they were better).

It was also a fantastic to meet up with some great people from other offices.
Teams from Warwick, Henley, Warren Hill, Newton Abbot, a team from NIG Bristol and not to forget Frank Sprenger (Peter' chauffeur) and Julian Palmer traveled to Woodbury Common in Devon and made hero's of themselves.

The event started with watching earlier teams returning, absolutely caked in mud from head to toe, (too late we couldn't back out now), then a 2 minutes warm up by the Royal Marine Physical Trainer (very nice he was too), then off we went!!!

Everybody who took part were given a medal and a certificate to proudly wear, the team spirit between all was fantastic, everyone encouraged everyone else and no one hesitated before getting into the swamp or being ordered by the Royal Marines to get down into the mud, and no one left a member behind.

We were 50 of 2000 people who took part on Saturday, and everyone I spoke to afterwards will be coming back next year, so keep your diary clear for 11-12th October 2008.

Finally I believe over £3,000 was raised by Towergate, Well done everyone I am proud to be one of you.
