Bounders’ Bed Race raises £4000 for St Michael’s
Hospice
|

The
Knaresborough Broker Network team reached their £2,000 fundraising
target competing in the Great Knaresborough Bed Race on Saturday
12th June. And, as every penny of the £2,000 will be
matched by the Towergate Charitable Foundation, the team’s efforts
will result in £4,000 being paid to local charity, St Michael’s
Hospice in Harrogate. |
| Prior to the race, the bed and the
Broker Network team were dressed as the moon, a rocket, astronauts
and space cadets as they participated in the great parade alongside
the other 89 beds competing on the day.

The team, Nick Houghton, Nicola Gifford, Michael Brooke, Jill
Hillier, David Simon and Kelly-Ann Knight, ran the race in
23 mins 12 seconds. The course is a gruelling 2.5 miles.
Managing Director, Nick Houghton, said:
“Knowing that we were raising the money for St
Michael’s Hospice helped keep us going. It wasn’t easy running
whilst pushing a metal bed frame complete with passenger on board
through the cobbled streets of Knaresborough! Thank you to all the
team and everyone who contributed”
|
|
The toughest part of the course was crossing the River Nidd!
The bed decorations were all kindly made by BN
employees.
