It’s not uncommon for people who support good
causes to do so without any expectation of recognition or reward.
Private philanthropy is vital to keep our charities afloat. Latest
figures for the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO)
and the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) show that the proportion of
the UK population that donated to charity in 2006/07 fell by 3% to
54%.* Charities, it would seem are increasingly reliant on the
generosity of a diminishing number of donors.
A company that puts social responsibility at
the heart of what it does can make a huge difference. Towergate
Charitable Foundation together with fund raising by our staff is
helping by providing direct financial support to some of the
country’s key services. In December 2007 Towergate, together with
our staff and clients raised a record £60k for worthy causes, in
particular the Hospice movement. During 2007 we raised £563,908
including £115,906 from a range of staff fun activities.
