Military Charities Grant Fund
Over the past few years Towergate, together with our staff and
clients across the UK has raised more than £5 million for good
causes. These funds have supported a number of charities including
those that specifically help military personnel and their
families.
The Towergate Charitable Foundation launched the Military
Charities Grant Fund in January 2011. This replaced the previous
system of providing unallocated payments to a small number of
military charities. Grants are considered from UK registered
charities whose purpose is to take care of military veterans and /
or their families.
The Grant purpose is to provide financial support to charities
engaged in the support of veterans of all three Armed
Forces.Towergate’s approach in evaluating bids and making grants is
to place a premium on those charities which provide direct care to
veterans, and which we consider to be, or to have the potential to
be, centres of excellence in their field. In particular, this will
focus on social exclusion, family breakdown, poverty, mental health
and addictions. A uniqueness of the proposed service provision will
also be taken into account.
Grant applications were reviewed in Spring and Autumn 2011 and a
total of £29,500 was paid in grants in 2011. Towergate
cherishes its close ties with the military.
Towergate Insurance has been the leading provider of
military kit insurance to the British Army as well as the dominant
force in unit insurances.
