Towergate is Europe’s largest independently owned insurance
intermediary established in 1997.
With over 4000 staff across 100 UK offices, we make it our
business to contribute to the communities in which we operate
through a variety of staff and client fundraising activities.
We are immensely grateful to everyone who has dressed up,
cleaned cars, walked, jumped, cycled or ran to raise money for some
great causes.
Team Towergate tops £1 million fundraising target for 4th
successive year
In an age of austerity Towergate has worked harder for clients
and charities, raising more than £1 million every year since 2008.
Towergate, Europe’s largest independently owned insurance
intermediary, has worked with clients, colleagues and suppliers to
raise more than £4.5 million since the Foundation was created in
January 2008.
Help has been provided to local and national charities including
funding key projects at Cancer Research UK, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s
Charity, Help
the Hospices and the NSPCC, which provides ChildLine.
Recognising the importance of helping others
Peter Cullum, Towergate’s Founder & Non-executive Deputy
Chairman, has championed fundraising throughout the organisation;
building on the company’s mantra of ‘Make money, have fun, do
good’.
Peter Cullum said, “I wish to thank my colleagues and our
clients for their outstanding contribution to these great
charities. We do it because we are in a position to assist a great
number of people who need help, and because it is simply the right
thing to do.”
Tim Johnson, Executive Director of Great Ormond Street Hospital
Children’s Charity said, “By funding a Cardiac Isolation Room and
important research at Great Ormond Street Hospital, Towergate
Charitable Foundation have been instrumental in improving the lives
of very sick children at the hospital and we are deeply grateful
for their on-going support.”
Harpal Kumar, Chief Executive of Cancer Research UK said, "We
are very grateful to Towergate Partnership, its staff and
customers, for generously supporting Cancer Research UK. Their
donation will help beat cancer by funding life-saving research in
Oxford, where Professor Harris is investigating ways of preventing
tumours from forming their own blood supply – one of the best
chances we have of stopping the growth and spread of many types of
cancer."
NSPCC chief executive Andrew Flanagan said: “A phone call by an
adult to the NSPCC Helpline, or from a child who calls ChildLine to
speak out about abuse, can be a vital step in stopping cruelty to
children. Tragically we cannot deal with every call, simply because
of lack of funds. And sadly, a child may gain the courage to call
ChildLine, only to be held in a queue. The money raised by
Towergate’s generous staff and customers is helping boost our
Child’s Voice Appeal, which aims to let no child’s voice go unheard
and to allow us to respond fully to every cry for help.”
David Praill, Chief Executive of Help the Hospices said, “On
behalf of Help the Hospices and hospices across the UK, I would
like to say a huge thank you to Towergate and all their staff for
the ongoing support. They are making a huge difference, not only to
the programmes we run nationally, but to local hospices that care
for children and adults with life-threatening or terminal illnesses
in communities across the UK."
